Electronics Engineering is one of the largest and most sophisticated branches of engineering. Its application is so wide that it affects our daily lives in various ways. Electronics has not only made our life easier, but enjoyable too. It has provided to us the equipment like Television, Radio, computers and telephones, etc. The technology of electronics and telecommunication helps us to see, hear and communicate over vast distances and do things faster. Electronics has a major role in improving productivity in industries like oil, energy, agriculture and so many other important sectors of the economy.

An electronics engineer works in groups to design, fabricate, produce, test and supervise the manufacturing of complex products and systems i.e. electronic equipment and components for a number of industries including hospitals, computer industries, electronic data processing systems for communication and in defense etc. They supervise production and manufacturing processes and oversee installation and maintenance. Electronics engineers work with devices that use extremely small amounts of power. They work with microprocessors, fiber optics, and in telecommunication, television, radio etc.

Electronics engineering is a rapidly growing sector where there is an excellent job opportunity for the skilled professionals. Individuals with zeal to learn and having a creative and inventive mind will probably find electronics engineering a challenging and lucrative career.

Career & Scope

Electronics and Telecommunication engineering is the most sought after career option for engineering aspirants. Fresh graduates of electronics and telecommunication engineering find quite good jobs in electronics and telecommunication sectors.

An electronics engineer can get a job in Central Government, State Governments and their sponsored corporations in public enterprises like All India Radio, Indian Telephone Industries, MTNL, National Physical Laboratories, Civil Aviation Department; Post and Telegraph Department, Co-ordination Department, Bharat Electronics Limited and few other government undertakings.

The private companies offer excellent pay-packages to skilled and experienced electronics professionals. The private units dealing with manufacture, sales and services of electronics consumer goods require a large number of electronics professionals for their functioning.

Apart from making professional career, one can also do research work in this field by joining PhD programs offered by several institutions across the globe. Teaching career is also rewarding. One can join engineering colleges/universities as a full time or part time lecturer/professor.
